The Film Critic's Wife

Being a woman, a wife and a mother in your thirties today is sometimes quite challenging in itself. And when you are also the wife of a film critic, it can easily happen that your ideas of normality, peace and happiness shift to a completely different place from the one where ordinary people have them... Situations, observations and glosses mapping out the relationship between a man and a woman, both sarcastically and self-ironically, are the focus of this popular blog (and its book version) by an anonymous author, who was nominated for the prestigious Magnesia Litera award for her work. With its subtle bite, but equally subtle poetry, it goes beyond the scope of ordinary writings about the fate of a woman under the cap. Against the backdrop of current art and pop culture, the theatrical version transforms it into an ironic reflection on relationships, social stereotypes and the existential pitfalls associated with the roles of a loving partner, mother and hard-working woman in general. The co-author and director of the production is one of the most appreciated Czech authors of today, Tomáš Dianiška.
